ISO 8655:2022 is an amendment to the standard published in 2002 which introduced essential changes for test instrument measurement uncertainty. In view of the aforesaid changes, it is necessary to revalidate numerous measuring systems in order to determine whether they comply with requirements of the ISO 8655:2022 standard.
To this aim, the authors of the publication, Slawomir Janas, PhD, and Agnieszka Zukowska, MSc, evaluated the liquid evaporation effect and found that the so-called steam traps of the MYA, XA and AP-12 series devices intended to control piston pipettes substantially secure the liquid dose mass measurement against excessive evaporation. In other words, the MYA 21.5Y.P and XA 6/21.5Y.M.A.P microbalances, as well as the XA 5Y analytical balances and the AP-12.5Y automatic device for multichannel pipette calibration meet the requirements of ISO 8655:2022.
